Kuta is a short drive from the Bali International Airport or a short walk along the beach path from the Patra resort………great at sunset.
Once in the heart of Kuta you will find shopping centres, markets and hawkers everywhere you turn. If not interested in buying anything just politely say no and they will leave you alone. We found them all to be very friendly, especially the ones just outside the gate to the Patra. The beach massages were great and the girls enjoyed having their hair beaded and their nails coloured…all very cheap.
The restaurants in Kuta were fantastic , very cheap with great variety. One of our favourite was The Green Garden which served great food, cold beer and did fantastic massages and beauty treatments…the hot stone massages were our favourite. Kuta is however a manic whirl with scooters, taxis and cars…all tooting and in a hurry to get wherever they are going. Once the sun goes down it becomes a night clubbers heaven with clubs and bars at every turn.
Bali is also surfing and no trip here is complete unless you have had a surf. In the mornings you will regularly see the locals throwing offerings into the sea, especially when New Year is approaching.
